Dr. Travis A. Rector is a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Over the years Dr. Rector has used the telescopes at Kitt Peak National Observatory, Gemini Observatory, and others to make over 200 color images of space and co-authored a book called “Coloring the Universe”, which describes how these images are made.  He has been watching, photographing, and teaching about the aurora for over twenty years.  In 2015 he produced a planetarium documentary called “Above Alaska”, which features aurora footage shot from one hundred nights over two years. He has traveled with Sirius as a guide on several eclipse tours and our annual tours to Iceland.
