Dr. Travis A. Rector is a professor of astronomy at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Over the years Dr. Rector has used the giant telescopes at Kitt Peak National Observatory, Gemini Observatory, and others to make over 200 color images of space. He recently co-authored a book called “Coloring the Universe”, which describes how these images are made. Dr. Rector is currently on sabbatical and is working at the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope, which is under construction on Cerro Pachón in Chile. He will join Sirius Travel as a guide for our 2019 trip to Chile.
